Bill Blogsmith

Q. What is the chief end of man? A. Man's chief end is to glorify God, and enjoy him forever. Q. What is thy only comfort in life and death? A. That I with body and soul, both in life and death, am not my own, but belong unto my faithful Saviour Jesus Christ

Who is Bill Blogsmith?

IN the 1970's a pair of Australian professors and pastors in the Anglican Church toured the world as the Australian Forum. This touring group went everywhere they were invited and preached the word as best they could, with a focus on the Gospel as central, supreme, and foremost in the Christian's life and understanding. As weeks go by I'll be repeating and expanding on themes of this group, but you can read their thoughts in Present Truth Magazine which is online for free.

Robert Brinsmead became apostate and is sadly teaching rank heresy and frankly non-Christian beliefs. Geoffrey Paxton, the better speaker of the two, has dropped out of sight and I have lost track of him. But when they were the Australian Forum, they spoke God's honest truth with power, conviction, and a powerful drive. Their humble efforts have shaped the thoughts and ideas of a new generation of theologians such as Rod Rosenbladt and Michael Horton.

In his teaching, Geoffrey Paxton used a fictitious fellow named "Bill Blogsmith." Bill was a sort of hapless fellow, but the name really stuck with me as being at the same time nonsensical and yet plausible sounding. And with the advent of a blog it was sort of obvious someone should use it. In fact, someone is, although judging by the blog she's never heard of Geoffrey Paxton or the Australian Forum.

So Bill Blogsmith lives again, this time to continue the work of the Australian Forum in a different format, and to give me a permanent, easy to access record for my thoughts and ideas on theology, God, culture, and the Word. Unlike my primary blog, this is not intended for widespread reading or a business, it's not going to be as fancy, and I won't be posting as much on it - just an occasional essay when I find the time and am driven. In fact, I don't know if anyone will ever actually read this site.

If you do, I pray that God uses it to bless you richly, and if there is any error, sin, or failure, it is entirely on my shoulders. Should you find such, pray for me that God will grant me strength, wisdom, correction, humility, and a greater zeal for God's truth.
